A 24-year-old Minneapolis woman died Tuesday night in a rollover crash on Interstate 35 in Chisago County, the State Patrol said.

Ajerae S. Fitzgerald was behind the wheel about 8:45 p.m. when her southbound pickup began drift, then went into the right-side ditch, where it began to roll, the patrol said.

Fitzgerald, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Fairview Hospital in Wyoming, the patrol said.

A 57-year-old passenger, Alan W. Stokes, of Minneapolis, was hurt, with injuries that were not life-threatening, the patrol said. Stokes, identified by the patrol as Fitzgerald's father, also went to the Wyoming hospital.

About an hour earlier, the driver of another pickup died in a crash with a truck pulling out of the RDO potato plant on Hwy. 71 south of Park Rapids, Minn., the State Patrol said. Alcohol is suspected in that crash.

The 38-year-old driver of the pickup, Scott Gartner, of Park Rapids, was killed. The pickup did not have its lights on when it rear-ended the northbound truck leaving the potato plant, the patrol said, adding that alcohol was detected in Gartner's system. He also was not wearing a seat belt, authorities added.

The driver of the truck leaving the plant was not hurt.
