In the past, the annual Picks to Click vote has been a fun way to celebrate the start of the baseball season. I tip my hat to everyone who has participated through the years. The voting process has included some interesting debates and hilarious responses. But I open this year's poll with an apology. It's not going to be as fun this time. The Twins open the season with increased expectations after going 83-79 last season. That suggests that the talent level has increased to the point where picking one hitter and pitcher to click is going to be harder than ever. I expect picks to be all over the place this year, and I can't wait to read the reasons supporting your selections. With that, I now open the 2016 Picks to Click polls. The process is simple. Give me two names. A pitcher and position player you expect to have a big year in 2016. It's not as easy as you think. Take last year, for example. We both agreed on the same players to click. Our pitcher to click was Kyle Gibson. Did he actually click? Yes and no. The local writers voted him the Twins pitcher of the year. But 11-11 with an ERA a little under 4.00 isn't exactly a big year. But I will go ahead and give you credit for this one. Do you remember our position player to click? Foghorn, please. It was Joe Mauer, and he let everyone down. We swung and missed on this one like many of his at-bats last season. See, it's not that easy. And picks have to be based on expectations. If you go with Miguel Sano, he's gotta hit more than 30 home runs and have a good slash line. Defense won't be held against him, he should have been played some in the outfield as he came up through the farm system. If it's someone like Eddie, "The Stick,' Escobar, batting .280 with double digit home runs, good defense and some big hits - which he's capable of - could qualify him as a click. So let's get this process started. Give me your votes for the Picks to Click, starting......NOW!!!!
