A half-dozen cool things in music, from two points of view:

Drake, "Hotline Bling" video. Fans might have expected the cool, nonchalant guy he is in real life. Luckily, though, we see nothing but awkward dance moves and grandpa sweaters that prove once again that Drake can do no wrong.

Ryan Adams, "Wildest Dreams." Taylor Swift's stylings finally found their way to the Current, but not in the way you might think (or fear?). Adams' flawless cover brings a cooler vibe and Tom Petty feel to these otherwise overplayed lyrics.

M, "Kamikaze." She has delivered a combination of party lyrics and danceable beats that are just waiting to be played as much as her Major Lazer collaboration "Lean On."

Anni Caylor, Minneapolis

Mary Lucia returns to 89.3 the Current. With her voice, personality and knowledge, she has brought a much needed articulate force back to these public radio airwaves.

Jackson Browne, the Orpheum. With newcomer Larry Campbell on guitar and fiddle, Browne seemed refreshed, generous and spontaneous — an unexpected fountain of fun.

Rosanne Cash, Rochester. Playing a soon-to-be-upgraded theater for Riverside Concerts, she delivered her stellar "The River and the Thread" album in its entirety and then a knockout run of hits and covers, including "Ode to Billie Joe" and "Long Black Veil."
