A person critically injured in a house fire in south Minneapolis early Tuesday morning has died, fire officials said.

The victim, whom authorities have not identified, died sometime this morning at Hennepin County Medical Center, the fire department tweeted from its verified account. The victim was critically injured after a fire broke out just after midnight in a home on the 2400 block of Pleasant Avenue, authorities said.

The fire's cause has not been determined.

Fire investigators are trying to determine whether the fire, which apparently started on the first floor before spreading to the rest of the house, was accidental.

Around the same time, a firefighter was taken to a local hospital for evaluation after being injured while battling a blaze that displaced a family of three from a home in north Minneapolis.
