PERIPHERAL ARTERY DISEASE (PAD)

What is it?

PAD is a narrowing of the arteries in the pelvis and legs.

What are the symptoms?

Typically, pain and tiredness in the leg or hip muscles while walking or climbing stairs.

What are the risks?

People with PAD have four to five times more risk of heart attack or stroke. Untreated, PAD can lead to gangrene and amputation.

How many people have it?

About 8 million Americans

Annual cost of PAD hospitalizations?

$21 billion

Estimated market for PAD devices?

$3.4 billion
