'Arsenic and Old Lace'

Both headliners in the Guthrie's latest production are fresh-from-Broadway veterans. Sally Wingert (late of "La Bête") and Kristine Nielsen ("Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson") star as two murderous spinster sisters in Joseph Kesselring's farce, which opened on Broadway 70 years ago. The sisters, part of a crazy family that includes a fellow who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt and an affianced theater critic, befriend lonely old men and do them in. The cast, directed by Joe Dowling, includes Bob Davis, Tyson Forbes, Nathaniel Fuller, Terry Hempleman and Kris L. Nelson. More event details.

'Jaws: The Musical'

Here's a novel premise: Take the classic Spielberg blockbuster "Jaws" and turn it into a dark comedy disguised as a musical. The plot follows a small Minnesota town as it attempts to adapt "Jaws" for the stage -- until someone begins killing off the actors one by one. With the town's big theater festival opening in just a few days, the mayor is determined to keep the theaters open and hires a hitman to take out the killer. Coming from the folks behind the Monday Night Comedy Show (perhaps the strangest weekly comedy show in town), it's a safe bet heads will be rolling -- with laughter. More event details.

'The Small'

This is a comedy by Anne Washburn about a man struggling to focus on the big picture, an unnatural natural food store and a dog who just wants someone to take him for a walk. Red Eye artistic director Steve Busa is staging the show. The cast features Miriam Must, Sigrid Sutter and David Roberts. More event details.

'Annie'

"Annie" may be a musical warhorse -- even the 1998 hip-hop sample by Jay-Z is now old -- but it's new to the 45-year-old Children's Theatre. Director Peter Rothstein dusts off the optimistic "Tomorrow"-looking comic-strip musical about a cute mophead who finds her Daddy Warbucks after leading "A Hard Knock Life." Guthrie regular Lee Mark Nelson makes his Children's Theatre debut as Daddy Warbucks, with actors Teri Parker-Brown as his kind assistant Grace and Angela Timberman as hard-drinking, children-hating orphanage mistress Miss Hannigan. The title character is played by Megan Fisher. More event details.
