Pedestrian killed near U was Brooklyn Center man

The pedestrian killed when a semitrailer truck hit him near the University of Minnesota's East Bank campus Wednesday has been identified as Charles Coleman of Brooklyn Center.

Coleman, 46, a cook at the university, was crossing University Avenue SE., near Huron Boulevard, about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday when the truck hit him, police said. He died at Hennepin County Medical Center at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, according to the county medical examiner.

The truck's driver cooperated with investigators, a Minneapolis police spokesman said. An investigation continues.
