Pedestrian fatally struck by car in Eagan

September 18, 2015 at 9:39PM

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car Thursday night in Eagan.

Police said the 27-year-old man ran onto Yankee Doodle Road near Coachman Road when he was struck about 7:30 p.m. The man wasn't in a crosswalk, police said.

A 29-year-old driver traveling west swerved but was unable to avoid hitting the man in the road, police said. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, police said.

The driver wasn't injured.

The names of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
