Pay your mortgage with a gift card?

It's an intriguing idea that will go live this summer.

Have unused gift cards lying around?

Wouldn't you like to use them to pay your utility bill?

This will become possible within the next couple of months, thanks to a partnership between ChargeSmart

It's not clear from the press release how it will work, but it says the service will allow consumers to apply up to 92 percent a gift card's value toward an outstanding bill for utilities, car, mortgage and student loan payments.

I'll try to get more details and let you know what I learn.
