Pawlenty is in Iraq

The governor made an unannounced visit to Minnesota troops

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is in Iraq Wednesday, being briefed on the mission and visiting Minnesota troops there.

On a conference call with reporters, Pawlenty said his goal was to thank Minnesota troops.

He said " good process has been made" in Iraq and the situation seems "more stable than just a couple years ago and heading in a hopeful direction," Pawlenty said.
