Patterson, Cheverie to duel tonight in goal

Gophers coach Don Lucia is continuing to rotate his goalies. Sophomore Kent Patterson will make his second start against Denver. The Pioneers are going to stay with junior Marc Cheverie who beat the Gophers 3-0 on Friday.

DU coach George Gwozdecky said in a preseason teleconfernce that he would rotate his goalies for the first six to eight games. Well, he is breaking his word tonight.

Gwozdecky is staying with junior Marc Cheverie, who has back-to-back shutouts. He is 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.33.

Gophers coach Don Lucia is switching goalies; sophomore Kent Patterson will start for the U.

Senior forward Jay Barriball is out of the lineup with a hip pointer. Sophomore forward Patrick White, who was not feeling well today, will start.

Two others out with injuries are defensemen Sam Lofquist, with a bruised foot, and Brian Schack, with a knee injury. Both are expected back for next weekend's home series against Alaska Anchorage. How long Barriball will be out is uncertain.
