A teenage driver ran a stop sign and fatally hit a motorist at a rural intersection southwest of St. Cloud, authorities said Wednesday.

The crash occurred in Meeker County shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hwy. 55 and County Road 34, according to the State Patrol.

Florance E. Deheer, 75, from nearby Watkins, was killed when her minivan collided with the car being driven by a 16-year-old girl, the patrol said.

The teen and a 15-year-old girl from Watkins in the car were both treated for noncritical injuries. Authorities have yet to release identities of the girls.

The teen's car was heading north on County Road 34, "failed to stop at [a] stop sign" and collided with the minivan as it headed west on Hwy. 55, a patrol statement read.
