A north Wisconsin driver had her three little ones along in the car while using marijuana, authorities said.

And the kids' grandmother was in the vehicle getting high too, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

A trooper came upon the family on E. Main Street in Ashland Thursday afternoon when he noticed the vehicle's tinted windows were too dark, the patrol said.

Driver Erica M. Gonzalez, 21, of Washburn, gave the trooper a grinder with marijuana, the patrol said. Her mother and the children's grandmother, identified as Tracey R. Cadotte, 49, of Ashland, handed the trooper a marijuana pipe.

"A strong odor of burned marijuana was detected from the vehicle," a statement from the patrol read. "Gonzalez admitted to smoking marijuana with her mother prior to being stopped by the trooper."

Also in the vehicle were Gonzalez's children, ages 1 month, 1 year and 2 years.

Gonzalez was jailed on suspicion of driving under the influence with children as passengers and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She also was ticketed for driving after her license was suspended and for having illegally tinted windows.

Messages were left Sunday with both women seeking their response to the allegations.
