Investigators have released the names of two teenage passengers injured in a crash that killed two others on Tuesday in Burnsville.
The Minnesota State Patrol said passengers Jonathan Thomas, 16, of Lakeville and Rey Chacon, 17, of Burnsville were injured in the crash and taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.
The incident report posted by the State Patrol said the teens' injuries were not life threatening. A hospital spokeswoman said no information on their condition was available on Friday.
The crash happened Tuesday afternoon when a 17-year-old Lakeville boy lost control of the Toyota Camry he was driving on southbound Buck Hill Road and rolled the car down an embankment onto Interstate 35W.
Passengers Frederick J. Alexander, 16, of Burnsville, and Alesha K. Roehl, 17, of rural Northfield died after being thrown from the vehicle. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
The name of the driver, a Lakeville South High School student, has not been released because the crash is still under investigation.
The State Patrol said Wednesday that the driver, who suffered minor injuries, violated a state law limiting how many passengers could ride in his car. He had received his license within six months, meaning he was allowed only one passenger under age 20.
