Park is seen as more than just a park

A good many Woodbury residents say they feel only weak ties to their neighborhood and wider community, a new survey finds. And many support parks enhancements aimed at creating better connections.

Specifically, the survey found substantial backing for enhancements to the city's indoor Central Park. City Administrator Clinton Gridley has spoken of a more heavily used, enhanced Central Park as promoting a stronger sense of community. The park is an important "hangout zone for a city without a traditional downtown," he said.

He recommended the City Council take up the survey implications in June. Just over 40 percent of respondents said they don't feel they have either "strong ties to my neighborhood" or "to the community."
