Gwyneth Paltrow has a new movie out, where she plays a country singer. This story gives us a fascinating look at the process called "acting."

That's a startling departure from those who strive for a complete and utter disconnect between their performance and the actual facts of the profession.

Sometimes actors go too far when they're learning a new character. They gain dangerous amounts of weight. They study strange, foreign schools of thought. They glimpse the very heart of evil itself sometimes. Some go even father. No, Gwyneth, pull back from YouTube! You've got to stop! The people commenting on that performance are using horrible grammar and spelling!

Girlfiends? They're the worst. They pretend to like you, then they steal your soul. So no one at AP has that feature that draws a squiggly red line under words like girlfiends, eh? Unless that's really what they meant, and it's actually part of the "Saw" franchise.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
