Road construction on Flying Cloud Drive is still more than two years away, but an open house this month will give Eden Prairie and Chanhassen residents more details about what to expect from the three-year project.

Hennepin County, Carver County, Eden Prairie and Chanhassen are holding an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 14 to give the community more information about the project. The open house, the second one this year, will take place at Eden Prairie City Hall, 8080 Mitchell Road

Construction is slated to start in 2015 and continue through 2017 from Hwy. 101 in Chanhassen to Charlson Road. Crews will be rebuilding the two lanes and adding shoulders, a left-turn lane, right-turn lanes at key intersections and a multiuse trail on the north side of the road.

The county, which is also meeting with homeowners along the corridor, says the estimated $40 million to $45 million project will make the road safer and will reduce flooding damage from the Minnesota River.
