The students who volunteered to paint the University of Minnesota logo on the football field at the Crookston campus had a little problem.
The photo was sent to the website LarryBrownSports.com.
Shawn Smith, the UM-Crookston sports information director, explained to Yahoo! Sports that the numbers hadn't been painted on the field when the students started doing their work. So they started at the 40 instead of the 45.
"The bottom line was it was a mistake, it happened and hey, we won," Smith told Yahoo!
More important to Crookston was that their football team ended a 39-game losing streak with the logo askew, beating Southwest Minnesota State 33-28.
