New Prague senior Drew Schoenbauer is halfway home to accomplishing his two goals in his final year of high school.

"I wanted to make it to state in basketball and track," Schoenbauer said. "I've already checked basketball off."

Schoenbauer is a sprinter and jumper on the track team. He was a shooting guard on the basketball team, which advanced to the state tournament before losing to Mankato East 65-60 in the Class 3A quarterfinals. The Trojans finished with an overall record of 20-9 on the season.

"Drew is a senior captain and brings experience and leadership to our squad," New Prague coach Nick Meyer said. "He has been a top jumper since ninth grade, and another year of experience and athleticism will help him take the next step this spring. He will also play a bigger role as a sprinter and will compete for the team in four events."
