Fort Myers, Fla.

Wrote about local boxer Phil ``The Drill" Williams. You can read his remarkable story here

An update: Williams is scheduled to fight at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday against the undefeated Michael Hunter. Even at 38, Williams is trying to position himself for a championship. This could be an important fight for him.

Of course, I'm in Fort Myers, covering spring training, writing daily. Here are some observations that haven't made it into print yet:

-Few Hall of Fame players have become good managers. Paul Molitor seems to differ from most great-players-turned-managers in two ways. Much of his success was built on intelligence. And as a manager he is humble. He admitted the other day that he needs to get better at managing his bullpen ,and he's constantly thinking about how he should use the running game. Wednesday morning, he was calling players in to tell them what their roles will be and what they should be working on.

-Spoke with Byron Buxton yesterday for a piece we'll run in the future. He looks much stronger and sounds much more comfortable than he did at any time last year. I expect him to have a good spring and be the Opening Day centerfielder.

-Barring injuries, the roster probably doesn't hold too many mysteries. Probable lineup: Dozier 2b, Mauer 1b, Sano rf, Plouffe 3b, Park dh, Rosario lf, Escobar ss, Suzuki c, Buxton cf.

Danny Santana, Oswaldo Arcia, Eduardo Nunez and John Ryan Murphy would be the bench.

That would leave room for 12 pitchers. Santana, Hughes, Gibson, Milone and Duffey are projected starters. Perkins, Jepsen, May and Nolasco would seem to be locks for the bullpen. That would leave three relief spots open for lefthanders and power arms. Michael Tonkin is out of options and has too much ability to release.

Fernando Abad and Taylor Rogers probably are first in line to be the situational lefties in the bullpen.

-New at MalePatternPodcasts.com: My detailed conversation with Terry Ryan, new Russo-Souhan Show from Tom Reid's Hockey City Pub, and a new MalePatternPurple with Vikings Update publisher Tim Yotter. Next up: Shows with Roy Smalley and AP basketball writer Jon Krawczynski. I'll be doing one show a week on key Twins personalities throughout March.
