ON THE TRAIL

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have agreed to a Democratic presidential debate next week ahead of the New York primary. The televised debate will be held in Brooklyn on April 14, five days before the state's April 19 primary. Both candidates have personal ties to the debate site. Sanders was born and raised in Brooklyn. Clinton represented New York in the Senate and her campaign's headquarters is based in Brooklyn. CNN will host the debate in partnership with Time Warner Cable's NY1.

Hillary Clinton raised $29.5 million in March, her campaign announced, far less than the $44 million raised by Bernie Sanders during the same period. The totals make March the third month in a row that Sanders has raised more than Clinton, despite her lead in delegates and the support of most of the Democratic Party's major donors. She also raised $6.1 million for the Democratic National Committee and state parties. Her campaign said that half of the donations came online but did not reveal what proportion of the overall money came from donors giving less than $200, a common benchmark for grass-roots fundraising strength. Clinton began April with $29 million in cash on hand. Sanders' campaign has not disclosed his cash-on-hand figure.
