TOLEDO, Ohio — An Ohio Air National Guard pilot who declared an in-flight emergency has landed his F-16 fighter plane safely at an airport.

Guard spokesman Maj. Gary Bentley says an electrical problem during a training flight Thursday afternoon forced the pilot to return to Toledo Express Airport.

He says the electrical problem developed about a half-hour into the 90-minute training flight. He says a backup system kicked in right away.

Bentley is from a Guard unit based just outside Toledo. He says the unit deals with a couple of in-flight emergencies each year.
