COLFAX, Wis. — Dunn County authorities say a law enforcement officer shot and wounded a suspect in the western Wisconsin village of Colfax after she showed a weapon.

Sheriff Dennis Smith says it happened Thursday afternoon when the officer was serving a warrant at the woman's apartment. He says the suspect pulled out a weapon, there was a struggle, and the officer shot her.

The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer was not hurt.

The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram reports (http://bit.ly/1v06kna ) Smith declined to say what kind of weapon she had. He also declined to say which department the officer worked for, but that officers from the Colfax Police Department and Dunn County Sheriff's Office were at the scene.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation.
