WASHINGTON — The nonprofit group advocating for President Barack Obama's agenda raised $8.2 million between April and June.
That's almost twice what Organizing for Action raised in the first three months of 2013. The group says more than 237,000 people have donated to the group, with the average contribution about $55.
The totals show donors are still engaged and willing to contribute to support Obama's agenda. But the group may still be limited in its ability to carry out costly advertising and grassroots campaigns on a national level.
The group isn't taking corporate money and is voluntarily disclosing all donations over $250.
Obama's longtime financial supporters have been some of the largest donors. The founder of Chicago-based Newsweb Corp., Fred Eychaner, and a financier and scientist, David Shaw, have each contributed $500,000
