President Obama drew roars of laughter with his "Lion King" send-up of the birther movement at Saturday night's White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in Washington, D.C. He also found room in his script for U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, who he joked was born in Canada: "Yes, Michele, this is how it starts…" The Minnesota Republican, with alleged designs on the White House, was in the star-studded audience of 2,500 journalists, celebrities and Washington insiders. She was there as a guest of Fox News, as was former Gov. Tim Pawlenty's new campaign manager, Nick Ayers. Not the usual Tea Party fare. And, as reported in the Washington Post this morning, the President didn't overlook the ex-governor, joking that Pawlenty's middle name is "Hosni." (By the way, the Post paid its respects to Pawlenty today in a front page article about his presidential inroads in Iowa). But Obama's main barbs were reserved for billionaire Donald Trump, the "Celebrity Apprentice" host who has been riding high on the birth certificate issue lately: "You, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership," intoned Obama, with Trump in the audience. "And so, ultimately, you didn't blame Lil Jon or Meat Loaf. You fired Gary Busey. These are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night. Well handled, sir."
