Northern Plains Lie in Danger Zone Thursday

A large part of the northern Plains will become the target of dangerousthunderstorms on Thursday. The thunderstorms will erupt along the rim of heatbaking the central and southern Plains and will fire as a disturbance emergesfrom the Rockies.Thursday may start with a few severe thunderstorms rumbling over thenorthern High Plains. During the afternoon, numerous intense thunderstorms willpound Montana and the Dakotas. This includes Billings, Rapid City and Aberdeen.

The severe weather will spread to the mid-Mississippi Valley at night. DesMoines is one of the many towns and cities that will be threatened.

The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of producing damaging winds,hail and torrential downpours. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
