My Dad, Tom Berens (The Minnesota Star Tribune)

My Dad, Tom Berens, left us late January just shy of his 90th birthday. He exemplified a strong work ethic as a 3rd generation owner of a family grocery store, sausage kitchen and deli/catering business. Tom and his wife Fran had 10 children but still found time to give back to their church and community through many volunteer efforts. He was the toughest boss I ever had, and I learned so much about quality and customer that still runs deep in my personal, work ethic today. And boy was he fun. It didn't take much to get a party started with my Dad, and would light up any room when he came in. I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard someone in our hometown yell "Hey Tommy"! I miss my Dad every day and hope that I can leave a legacy as important and far reaching as his. He fed our town and took care of the people there through his service to church, school and community. Love you Dad - Beth

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
