Making the grade

Northern Grade, the popular traveling men's market, is coming back home. On Nov. 15-16, the shopping extravaganza will stock made-in-the-U.S.A. clothing, accessories and more from a variety of brands in a warehouse space at 811 Glenwood Av. in Minneapolis.

Northern Grade hosted its first market in 2009 at Architectural Antiques in northeast Minneapolis. Since then, it has gone on to host traveling pop-up sales in other cities — including Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Nashville — and received some high-profile coverage in the Los Angeles Times and GQ magazine. A few of the noteworthy Minnesota-based apparel and accessory brands in the mix include Red Wing, Askov Finlayson, J.W. Hulme Co. and Pierrepont Hicks.

Northern Grade will debut its first women's-focused market (Northern Grade: Her) in New York City in December. When asked if the ladies' version will come to Minnesota, co-founder Mark McMillan said, "If all goes well ... of course Minneapolis will be at the top of our list!"

11 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 15, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 16. 811 Glenwood Av., Mpls. Free. www.northerngrade.com.
