The northbound lanes of Hwy. 169 near the Bloomington Ferry Bridge reopened just after noon Monday after a hazmat team finished cleaning up hydraulic fluid that leaked from a cement truck that overturned near the end of the morning rush hour.

The eighteen-wheeler flipped on its side near the County Road 18 ramp about 8:35 a.m. and blocked both northbound lanes for nearly four hours. Traffic jammed as far back as Canterbury Road in Shakopee.

According to the State Patrol, the truck driver was unable to stop as he approached slower traffic ahead and lost control. Several other vehicles were damaged. Two drivers suffered minor injuries, the patrol said.

The highway was shut down and traffic was diverted onto County Road 21. The ramp from County Road 21 to northbound Hwy. 169 also was closed.

Both MnDOT and the State Patrol warned motorists to expect major delays and advised them to use alternate routes.

Two crashes in the southbound lanes just after the truck rolled over complicated matters. Those have cleared and all southbound lanes are open, a MnDOT spokesman said.
