A meeting in north Minneapolis on Thursday night will outline progress that's been made to date on the Bottineau light rail line, which will run from downtown to the northern suburbs.

The meeting falls just about a month before detailed plans for the line are expected to be sent to cities along its route. Minneapolis and other cities are expected to vote on granting their consent by March 2016.

After departing downtown, the Bottineau line would travel primarily along Olson Memorial Highway on its route through Minneapolis -- stopping at Van White Memorial Boulevard and Penn Avenue. It would then head north at Theodore Wirth Park, with a likely stop at Plymouth Avenue.

Project Spokeswoman Laura Baenen said Thursday's event will not feature a formal presentation, but rather boards illustrating the route, parcels needed for acquisition and other details like the impact on buses, parks and historic properties.

The meeting will be held Thursday, October 29 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Harrison Community Center (503 North Irving Avenue). A flyer is available here, at the project website.
