ANOKA-HENNEPIN

Forum Thursday on future of education The Anoka-Hennepin Parent Legislative Team is inviting the community to learn more about the future of education in the state. The topic of Thursday's event is "Smart Investments in Minnesota's Students," an initiative by a nonpartisan think tank to increase postsecondary attainment by 50 percent by the year 2020.

Angie Eilers, research and policy director for Growth and Justice, a nonprofit, progressive economic think tank, will speak at 7-8:30 p.m. in the Forum Room in the Secondary Technical Education Program (STEP) building, at 1353 W. Main St., Anoka, on the campus of Anoka Technical College.

"The bottom line is that we are calling for an investment in Minnesota's students -- and meeting them where their needs are," Eilers said on the Anoka-Hennepin district website. The event is free. For more information about the Parent Legislative Team, contact Toni Amenrud at 612-991-7863.
