Norah Jones was definitely in the moment at the O'Shaughnessy on Wednesday. She knew she was in St. Paul (not Minneapolis) and she knew it was St. Patrick's Day. She goofed around with an Irish accent and even did a Mpls vs. St. Paul and a Manhattan vs. Brooklyn (she prefers Brooklyn, where she lives).

Friendly and talkative, yes. Musically adventurous, yes. Loved her creative takes on Elvis' "Love Me" and her own "Sinkin' Soon" and "Dont Know Why," to name a few. The disappointment was that her new quintet did not consistently jell, especially on tunes from last year's "The Fall" (which occupied about half the set). Only two of the five musicians played on the recording, and it was only their ninth gig on this tour. On the new material, Jones' vocals somtimes seemed emotionally flat, notably on the encore "Stuck." She was so much more convincing on her covers and her oldies, as I detailed in my full review.

Here is Jones set list from Wednesday:

I Wouldnt Need You/ Tell Yer Mama/ Light as a Feather/ Chasing Pirates/ Even Though/ It's Gonna Be/ Broken/ Waiting/ Sunrise/ Cold Cold Heart (Hank Williams)/ Back to Manhattan/ Cry Cry Cry (Johnny Cash)/ Sinkin' Soon/ Carnival Town/ Love Me (Elvis Presley)/ Don't Know Why/ Young Blood/ Come Away with Me/ Strangers (Kinks) ENORE How Many Times Have You Broken My Heart / Stuck
