Mark Dayton won't be pushing for facilities on Minnesota's newest park on Lake Vermilion.

The DFL candidate for governor said Wednesday that his family has a cabin on the northern lake.

"If I were governor, I would recuse myself from any decisions involving that because my family has a cabin. I don't have any direct financial interest but my father and brothers have a cabin on Lake Vermilion. It's on the other side of the lake but that's my obligation to identity any place where I have a financial or other conflict of interest and make the disclosure and take the appropriate action," Dayton said.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty has pushed hard to get U.S. Steel land on the lake turned into a state park. The state inked the final deal with U.S. Steel earlier this month. The park facilities will take years to complete.
