DETROIT — Jurors have gone home without a verdict on the first day of deliberations in the trial of a Detroit police officer charged in the shooting death of a 7-year-old girl.

The jury watched video of the fatal raid Friday during roughly five hours of deliberations. A crew from the police reality show, "The First 48," recorded it from the sidewalk.

Officer Joseph Weekley is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Aiyana Stanley-Jones. He told jurors that he was struggling with Aiyana's grandmother when he accidentally pulled the trigger.

The jury can consider two charges: involuntary manslaughter, a felony, or reckless discharge of a firearm, a misdemeanor. Jurors will return Monday.

Aiyana was shot immediately after officers stormed a Detroit house looking for a murder suspect.
