The Gophers have given up 103 points over the past two weeks, and the remaining schedule features high-scoring offenses from Nebraska, Northwestern and |Illinois. They could be in danger of matching a dubious mark of giving up 40 or more points six times in a season. That was accomplished most recently by the 2007 Gophers -- and most famously by the 1983 team. A look at those two:

• 2007: In Tim Brewster's first year as coach, the Gophers go 1-11. They lose 42-39 to Florida Atlantic, 45-31 to Purdue, 40-20 to Indiana, 49-48 in double overtime to Northwestern, 44-17 to Illinois and 41-34 to Wisconsin.

• 1983: In Joe Salem's final season, the Gophers go 1-10. In the Queen Mother of all beat-downs, they lose 84-13 to Nebraska. That was followed by losses of 69-18 to Ohio State, 56-17 to Wisconsin, 50-23 to Illinois, 58-10 to Michigan and 61-10 to Iowa.
