No shame in taking money from the NFL

March 16, 2016 at 12:33AM

The headline coming out of the opening days of NFL free agency was that quarterback Brock Osweiler had received too much money to sign with Houston. I find it amazing when the sports media and the NFL's enormous fan base react as if there's such a thing as a football player making too much money. Houston went after Osweiler with more enthusiasm and more guaranteed dollars. Why wouldn't a guy sign up for that?

The NFL owners are without conscience or any sense of loyalty in dealing with players. So, why would Osweiler show one iota of loyalty or patience with John Elway and the Broncos?

Take the deal. And if you can put the screws to a team that had no trouble putting you back on the bench while also putting $37 million guaranteed in the bank, that's a double win. It's the NFL. Get all you can, when you can, because these parasites will rob you and make you beg for a pittance at the first opportunity.
