Meetings continued at the Capitol Tuesday in an attempt to resolve the state's budget impasse, but Gov. Mark Dayton and Republican legislative leaders were taking a breather, planning to next sit down and talk again Wednesday.

In the wake of slight movement Monday between the GOP team and the Democratic governor, the Legislative Commission on Planning and Fiscal Policy planned to meet Tuesday afternoon, the second time it has met since the Legislature adjourned last month.

During the legislative panel's first meeting last week, Dayton refused to allow his commissioners to attend. It wasn't immediately clear if any commissioners would attend the second meeting.

In addition, members of the judiciary and transportation committees planned closed-door meetings Tuesday.

If no agreement is reached on the budget, state government will start shutting down July 1.
