A fire Tuesday morning at a nursing home in western Wisconsin where an addition was being built drew 100-plus firefighters and required some residents to be removed from their rooms, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

The blaze began about 5 a.m. at the Glenhaven Nursing Home in Glenwood City, about 40 miles east of Hudson, administrator Dave Prissel said.

One wing of the nursing home on the east side of town "was fully involved in flames" at the outset and was evacuated, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office. Responders were left with just "mopping-up" duties a little more than five hours after the fire began, the Sheriff's Office added.

Prissel said 32 residents were relocated, emphasizing that "all the residents are safe."

Other than the construction site, "the whole building is fine," he added.

More than 100 firefighters from 20 departments responded to the blaze, the Sheriff's Office said.

Construction on the addition began in May and was supposed to be complete this June, Prissel said.
