The No. 2 Gophers women's volleyball team swept Indiana 25-21, 26-24, 25-21 on Wednesday night in a Big Ten match at the Sports Pavilion.

Paige Tapp led Minnesota (18-4, 10-3 conference) with 11 kills and five blocks. Teammate Sarah Wilhite added nine kills and five digs.

The Gophers hit .245 to the Hoosiers' .217 and had 12 blocks to six for Indiana (4-9, 15-11). Minnesota remains unbeaten at home in nine matches.

Awards rundown

• North Dakota's Brock Boeser, a sophomore forward from Burnsville, was named the NCHC's player of the month for October.

He had six goals and six assists in seven games, which led the conference and was tied for third nationally, as the Fighting Hawks went 5-2. They play the Gophers at Mariucci Arena this weekend.

• Gustavus setter Nora Holtan, a sophomore from Rochester Mayo, was named the MIAC player of the year in volleyball. Augsburg's Jane Becker was picked coach of the year.

• The Gophers' Sarah Bacon was named the Big Ten swimming and diving freshman of the week. She won the 1- and 3-meter diving events in a dual meet with Iowa with NCAA Zone qualifying scores of 317.85 and 377.10, respectively. She is from Indianapolis. • Gophers senior Charlie Bulger was named the Minnesota Golf Association's Fritz Corrigan Evans Scholar of the Year.
