More epic shows The big electronic DJ shows just keep coming at Epic. One month after trance superstar Tiësto played the club, another trance fan-favorite is coming to town. BT, a nontraditional DJ who was brought up on classical music, will take to the stage with a touring show he calls "Laptop Symphony." He has worked with a number of artists, including *NSYNC, David Bowie and the Roots. BT's music is frequently used in film soundtracks, and he even wrote the scores for a few movies, including "The Fast and the Furious" and the Charlize Theron film "Monster." The funniest mom in America Comedian Cathy Ladman is one of the funniest Jewish moms you'll ever meet. If you don't know what qualities make up a Jewish mother, don't worry, she'll tell you all about it this weekend at This Place Is a Joke in St. Paul (the club is in a Holiday Inn). Ladman has appeared on HBO, "The Tonight Show" and various other TV shows, including "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Everybody Loves Raymond." She was a finalist in Nick at Nite's "Funniest Mom in America" contest. She also likes making fun of her husband. In a bit about the challenges of marriage, she once said: "Marriage, to me, is like a 5,000-piece jigsaw puzzle -- all sky." (8:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., July 25-26, Aug. 1-2. 2201 Burns Av., St. Paul. $15. 651-789-4503. ThisPlaceIsAJoke.com.)

Rumours come true When gay nightclub Innuendo opened in downtown St. Paul last year, it hoped to eventually expand with a sister club next door called Rumours. The addition would fulfill the nightspot's intended name, Rumours & Innuendo -- a tribute to the former Rumours, a gay club on Robert Street that now houses Camp. Innuendo recently announced that it will finally begin construction on Rumours, shooting for a mid-August completion. The addition will house a larger dance floor and a wider stage for drag shows.
