Obama-rama President-elect Barack Obama is different -- this we know. Here's yet another sign that Obama is breaking the presidential mold: Nightclubs are hosting parties for the man. If you're a fan looking to celebrate his inauguration Jan. 20, Epic is hosting a party called "One Nation: A New Birth of Freedom." A little heavy-handed, but it'll do for Obama fanatics. The night will include simulcasts of the day's inauguration ceremony and music by DJs Ray Richardson of KMOJ and Mike Mack of B-96 FM, plus performances by Truthmaze, Muja Messiah and Chicago-based dancehall artists Jawbreaker and Six Mil.

7:30 p.m. Jan. 20. 110 N. 5th St., Mpls. $15-$40. 612-332-3742. epicmpls.com.

Sight and sound File this under "weird." At the next Walker free Thursday night, an artist named Bruce McClure will show off his peculiar brand of filmmaking. He won't be screening a film, but he'll be performing a symphony of sounds and images through a setup of modified projectors that act almost like musical instruments. He calls his live shows a projector performance. You'll hear a whirl of clicking, clanking sounds and see a mishmash of images as he tinkers with the projectors. Sound goofy? Yep. Worth a look? Definitely.

7:30 p.m. Thu. Walker Cinema, 1750 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. Free. 612-375-7600 or walkerart.org.

Seven years of SooVAC Time flies when you're producing some of the coolest art shows around. On Saturday, the Soo Visual Art Center in Uptown will celebrate its seventh anniversary with a benefit for the gallery (times are tough, you know). The party, called "Get Lucky," will have a silent auction featuring works by SooVAC favorites (Jennifer Davis, Isaac Arvold, Deuce Seven, Keiko Yagishita and more). There will be food and drink, plus music by Martin Dosh and Jon Davis.

7-11 p.m. Sat. 2640 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls. $25. 612-871-2263. soovac.org.
