R.I.P. Trocaderos With little to no warning, Trocaderos, the downtown nightclub known for its random mix of concerts, apparently closed this week. A statement on its website says the building is up for sale or lease. Calls to management were not returned by press time. Trocaderos opened in 2005 as an upscale club aimed at an older crowd. After failing to capture that demographic, it began hosting everything from nationally touring musicians to local fashion shows. With its 8,000 square-foot dance floor and three levels, it was one of the largest venues downtown. The club also gained notoriety for its ongoing legal battles with the city over noise violations in the condo-populated North Loop.

Rock out with your Spock out Apparently, the new "Star Trek" movie has made Trekkies cool enough to hang in the clubs. The Lounge in downtown Minneapolis is hosting a full-blown "Star Trek" party Saturday. Fans are encouraged to dress as their favorite character (go, Uhura!). Costumed clubbers will get in free and receive a free drink. The club's staff will be dressed as Starfleet officers and serving "Romulan Ale" and "Klingon Bloodwine," among other themed drinks (they found the recipes on the Internet). Owner Brian Bell will be wearing the gold shirt: "Somebody's gotta be the captain," he said. Artist Brant Kingman is designing a Federation set for the main room. Don't have a costume? You can still enter for "eight strips of gold-pressed latinum." That would be $8 if you don't know Ferengi currency.

More Drama Remember when hip-hop mix tapes were huge? Atlanta's DJ Drama had as much to do with that underground trend as anyone. Then in 2007, the cops (aided by the Recording Industry Association of America) busted him on racketeering charges. He rebounded and released two label-backed albums featuring the biggest names in hip-hop. He'll spin in Bar-Fly's Loft Saturday.

9 p.m. Fri. 711 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. $20-$25.

Ian Rans of "Drinking With Ian" will emcee.
