Nightlife notebook: A bar frozen in time returns

Ice, ice baby You know the cold weather is here to stay when Chambers brings out the ice bar. The boutique hotel opens its courtyard "Ice Chamber" tonight for your outdoor drinking enjoyment. The tiny, chilly space, made from 12,000 pounds of ice blocks, has been redesigned with ice sofas, complete with faux-fur throws to keep your booty warm. The bartenders -- all women -- have donned a Bond-girl theme, naming themselves Honey Rider, Kissy Suzuki, Bibi Dahl and such. They're offering five signature cocktails (like: the Slippery When Wet, a mix of vodka, lemonade, peach schnapps and house-made ginger-lime syrup). Three DJs, including the venerable Jack Trash, will keep the courtyard warm tonight. They've also added heaters to the new cabanas. (7 p.m. today. Regular hours: Opens at 5 p.m. Tue.-Sat. 901 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. Free. 612-767-6900. Chambersminneapolis.com.)

No happy hour here Few of us can afford a $10 martini in these tough times, much less one for $1,000. Maybe that's reason enough to support the Capital Grille's charity cocktail, with proceeds from the $1,000 price tag going to hunger-fighting organization Share Our Strength. Why so expensive? The drink comes with a White Topaz and Diamond Caviar Rope Bracelet created by designer Steven Lagos. The restaurant is offering the drink through Jan. 3. (801 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. 612-692-9000.)

Shake it to Skribble When he's not reminiscing about "TRL" with Carson Daly or running his custom car shop (Skribble's car spa), DJ Skribble is touring the country. He comes to Bar-Fly Thursday. (10 p.m. Thu. 711 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. 18 and older. 612-333-6100. barflyminneapolis.com.)
