Jameis Winston officially signed his rookie contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday.

The first thing the No. 1 overall pick did with his money — the four-year contract is worth $23.35 million and includes a $16.7 million signing bonus according to a report from NFL.com — was buy his grandmother Myrtle Winston a $2,000 recliner.

"I'm glad we got the contract stuff out of the way," Winston said during his introductory news conference in Tampa.

Bucs General Manager Jason Licht also was relieved to have the negotiating done with so quickly. Licht said negotiations began on Thursday after the Florida State product was drafted and the deal was finalized the day after Tampa Bay selected Winston to be its franchise quarterback.

"It was fairly smooth," Licht said. "We wanted Jameis to start off on the right foot. "

Around the NFC North

In the second round of the draft on Friday, the Bears went for bulk, the Lions went for speed and the Packers went for versatility.

Chicago, with the No. 39 overall pick, took Florida State defensive tackle Eddie Goldman. A 6-4, 320-pounder, Goldman was considered a first-round talent by some draft pundits, although concerns about his toughness likely hurt his draft stock.

Detroit, at No. 54, took Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah, who rushed for over 1,600 yards in each of his final two seasons with the Cornhuskers. Abdullah fills a need in the backfield after the Lions cut Reggie Bush earlier this offseason.

"I think there's only one Reggie Bush," Abdullah said. "Hopefully I'm out to prove that there's only one Ameer Abdullah."

At No. 62, Green Bay selected Miami (Ohio) defensive back Quinten Rollins, further replenishing a secondary hit by free agency.

Rollins was the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Rollins finished with 72 tackles and seven interceptions in 2014. He also played basketball for the RedHawks.

"I think the overriding theme for our tenure here has been competition is great," said Brian Gutekunst, Packers director of college scouting. "I think anytime guys are challenged, you usually get the best out of them. So I think that's a positive."

In the third round, Chicago took Oregon center Hroniss Grasu, Detroit picked Stanford cornerback Alex Carter, and Green Bay selected Stanford receiver Ty Montgomery.

Dangers of Twitter

Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy, who is facing a 10-game suspension for his role in a domestic violence case, stirred criticism Friday night with a joking reference on Twitter to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Hardy was responding to a fan of his former team in Carolina after the Panthers drafted a tall receiver for the second consecutive year. The fan referred to the receivers as "The Twin Towers" and included photos of both.

Hardy tweeted: "didn't the twin towers get blowN up lol."
