Looks as if Miley Cyrus has finally been tamed: The singer and actress is engaged to marry her actor beau, Liam Hemsworth. The young couple, who have been together off and on for about three years since meeting on the set of the 2009 movie, "The Last Song," shared their happy news Wednesday. "I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam," Cyrus, 19, confirmed to People mag, which first reported the May 31 engagement. Hemsworth, 22, played Gale in the blockbuster film "The Hunger Games" and is younger brother to Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth. Cyrus also took to Twitter to announce her news on Wednesday, tweeting: "Thank you for all the love today :) I'm happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true." The former Hannah Montana -- the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus -- is now rocking a 3.5-carat diamond set in gold, which Neil Lane designed in collaboration with Hemsworth. Jessye Norman to return to Twin Cities

Jessye Norman will return to the Twin Cities for the first time in more than 15 years. The Schubert Club, which twice before has presented the opera star, announced that she will sing April 30, 2013, in a concert that celebrates the 130th anniversary of the organization. The Georgia-born Norman is a legendary performer with a rich history as both a stage prima donna and a soloist. Her program be at the Ordway Center in St. Paul will focus on American songs and spirituals. Herb Reed, the last surviving member of the Platters, one of the first pop groups to break the color barrier in the 1950s with crossover hits like "Only You," "The Great Pretender" and a soaring street-corner version of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," died Monday in Boston from lung disease, his manager, Fred Balboni said. He was 83. Reed was credited with naming the group in 1953 ("platters" was disc jockey lingo for vinyl records) when he and a group of friends began singing in amateur contests. The core of the original group -- Reed, David Lynch and the lead singer, Tony Williams -- later joined with Paul Robi and a 15-year-old girl named Zola Taylor to form the quintet that recorded "Only You" in 1955, the first in a string of hits.
