A longtime Minneapolis police officer has been nominated to become U.S. Marshal in Minnesota. Sharon Lubinski has been nominated by President Obama at the recommendation of U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar. Lubinski has worked three decades in law enforcement and currently is assistant police chief of Minneapolis. She was a member of the Minneapolis Police team that provided security for the Republican National Convention and of the Joint Terrorism Task Force from 2004 to 2006. The U.S. Marshals Service is a federal law enforcement agency that protects federal court officials, buildings and witnesses and pursues fugitives.
She would replace current U.S. Marshal Michael McGinn.
