Minnesota Public Radio will replace the just-retired Gary Eichten, in part, with a show called "The Daily Circuit," which wll run from 9 a.m. to noon starting Tuesday, Feb. 21. It will feature Kerri Miller, current host of "Midmorning" -- which runs from 9 to 11 a.m. -- along with Tom Weber of MPR's news department. "Kerri Miller was a natural choice for this challenge – she's long been a strength of our news programming," said MPR senior vice president Tim Roesler. "Tom Weber is a great addition to the show, with his engaging style and reputation for excellent reporting." MPR will fill the final hour of Eichten's former "Midday" slot with another new show, "MPR News Presents," from noon to 1 p.m. Run by Eichten's longtime producer, Sara Meyer -- newly appointed as MPR's senior producer for public affairs -- the show will feature "important speeches, documentaries and news events involving thought leaders and public officials." A veteran reporter at KARE-11, Miller joined MPR in 2004 to take over the helm at "Midmorning." Weber, whom MPR hired four years ago as an education reporter, led an investigation into Minnesota's anti-bullying law. Eichten, meanwhile, isn't leaving completely. He'll host political conversations throughout the election year and will serve as "editor at large" and a mentor for MPR reporters.
