How dry I am

Will Arnett has parlayed his recent success into "Flaked," a well-meaning but laugh-deprived sitcom about a recovering alcoholic struggling to stay afloat in Venice Beach. Arnett, who co-wrote the series with Mark Chappell, gets points for dialing the crazy down, but it's never really explained why the community trusts his clearly unreliable character or why he's catnip to all the women. Perhaps they recognize his voice from "BoJack Horseman."

All in the family

"Crowded," a new sitcom that mines for jokes out of the growing practice of grown-up children moving back in with their parents, would be forgettable if it weren't for the casting of Patrick Warburton ("Rules of Engagement") and Carrie Preston ("The Good Wife"), actors who know how to play exasperated without coming across as the Whiners. "iCarly" fans ready to graduate to adult comedy may get a kick out of Miranda Cosgrove, that show's star, tackling PG-13 material. "Crowded" moves to its regular Sunday night slot next weekend.

From Russia with love

The premise of "The Americans," which returns for its fourth season, is about as credible as Boris and Natasha sharing a duplex with Rocky and Bullwinkle, but there's no denying the chemistry between Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, who liked playing house so much they're a real-life couple with a baby on the way. It's only fair they sign up their child for Russian language classes as soon as possible.
