Beat cop

After six years, Jane's never-ending suffering on "Rizzoli & Isles" should be all played out. But the beleaguered detective is still great fun to watch in the procedural's two-hour return, thanks in no small part to actress Angie Harmon's whiskey-for-breakfast voice and hilariously exasperated expressions. Her latest nemesis, played by Annabeth Gish, isn't very daunting, but the way Harmon takes her on, you'd think she was facing Hannibal Lecter. Harmon won't have to take an emotional beating much longer, as this will be the show's final season.

All about Eva

Eva Longoria's NBC sitcom, "Telenovela," deserved a second season, if only to watch its star engage in the kind of go-for-broke physical comedy too many beautiful actresses shy away from. At least she's still executive producer for "Devious Maids," which returns for a fourth season of sexy hijinks with its boss making a guest appearance. Hopefully, she'll mark her entrance with a pratfall.

The dating game

"UnReal," which kicks off its second season, may spoil the hedonistic pleasures you get from watching "The Bachelorette." It's worth the risk. There's no romance behind the scenes of a dating show, at least not when the production team is being led by a couple of ruthless women (Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer) whose plan to make their latest "bachelor" an African-American is less about making a social moment and more about getting killer ratings.
