Leftovers

Netflix seems committed to embracing every genre, and that includes Food TV. "Cooked," a docuseries from author Michael Pollan and filmmaker Alex Gibney, is less about providing recipes and more about reclaiming lost culinary traditions. Sounds fine, but not nearly as mouthwatering as "Making a Murderer." Now streaming on Netflix

Fox trot

Those who have stuck with the return of "The X-Files" may be wondering what happened to the story line introduced in the first episode. Those loose ends are tied up (or maybe not, if the show continues its maddening trend of leaving viewers dangling) in this season finale. 7 p.m. KMSP, Ch. 9

Graduate course

Those who caught PBS' recent documentary on Mike Nichols may think they can afford to skip "Becoming Mike Nichols." Don't. The film, based solely on the director's interviews with Jack O'Brien (the last he would do before his death in late 2014), includes some of the same anecdotes, but there are still plenty of fresh goodies, including the tale of how "Mrs. Robinson" became part of "The Graduate" soundtrack. 8 p.m. HBO
